Optimel Manuka Honey Eye Drops contain
- Glycerin 0.2%
- Eye Discomfort
- Eye Lid Irritation
- Sterile
Optimel® Manuka + Dry Eye Drops also contains a proprietary pharmaceutical grade Leptospermum spp. honey (165 mg/g) as an excipient.
For use as an adjunct therapy in addition to good eyelid hygiene.
Uses:
- For the temporary relief of irritation due to dryness of the eye.
- For use as a protectant against further irritation or to relieve dryness of the eye.
Precautions
- Single patient use only
- Serious conditions should be managed under the supervision of an eye care professional.
- For any reaction other than transient stinging and redness, cease use and contact your eye care professional.
- DO NOT use if you have a history of hypersensitivity or sensitive to honey, food gums, benzoate preservatives without seeking medical advice.
- Do not instill whilst wearing contact lenses. Wait at least 30 minutes before inserting lenses.
- Replace cap after use.
- Before first use: check tamper ring is attached to cap base – remove cap and discard ring.
OptiMel Manuka Dry Eye Drops
I actually prefer the Manuka Eye Gel for my chronic dry eye. Recently I received a prescription for the prohibitively expensive Xiidra eye drops (they cost $850 but insurance paid). They are supposed to be a game changer for Meibomian Gland Dysfunction. And same thing - I actually find the Manuka Eye Gel works better for me.

The drops do sting at first...I close my eyes, and when I open them they feel so much better. I find that using these drops in the morning and the gel at night (when needed) that I rarely need to use other drops.

Canadahard to say if its better than Thealoz Duo
Ive been using Thealoz Duo and switched to this based on Youtube’s Dr Allen. Havent felt much difference except these are crazy expensive for what they are, sting, and make my eyes sticky. Given the unknowns of encouraging honey eating bacteria in my eyes I think I’ll take a pass on these.
